Alex – Solar Manager
I’m Alex, the manager at a solar power company. My GEOCIRRUS story starts with a rainy day last August, when I found myself looking at maps to source new customers. I was looking for statistics on a promising suburb that had gone through a lot of growth, including upgrades to the local school and the addition of a new sporting complex. The suburb had become a highly desirable area for growing families, with many properties changing ownership, being renovated, subdivided, or torn down and rebuilt. For our company, it’s all about knowing which houses we should focus our limited marketing resources on, and giving prospective customers accurate information so they can make informed decisions.
I soon realised that a free online imagery service wouldn’t give me what I needed. We really rely on up-to-date city maps, and because so much had changed in the suburb, the service wasn’t a reliable source of prospecting data. As solar is such a competitive industry, we don’t have the time to manually search an area. It’s possible to buy city maps, but they’re either too expensive, or require specialist tools. I needed something that allowed me to take accurate measurements with current imagery.
A friend told me they now use mapping data and tools from GEOCIRRUS. After contacting the GEOCIRRUS solar team, I was able to trial their imagery, reporting and quoting tools.
I signed up straight away and they quickly configured the measure and quote tools to my needs. The system shows me where to focus our marketing efforts through up-to-date high-resolution imagery and suburb profile information. The solar quoting tools enable me to calculate and mock up the appropriate number of solar panels we’d recommend on each roof.
I am really impressed by how simple it is to calculate solar potential and to generate maps and quotes for solar installations. It makes so much sense.
I haven’t been back to the old way since. In fact, now our installation manager and I are talking to the GEOCIRRUS solar team about how to get more from our GEOCIRRUS service. By connecting our contacts database and workforce management system, our installers will be able to see their assigned jobs and update work orders on-site in real-time. This is a huge advance on paper-based records. Combining metropolitan maps with prospecting and quoting workflows, has dramatically reduced our time-to-sale and increased our profit margins.
